There is a one time per year per student per program $25 registration fee and monthly tuition starts at $30 a month. We welcome the entire family to come and learn the history of Dia de Los Muertos, take part in a procession inside our center, and hear the reciting of Calaveras (poetry) from current TLU students. Join Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin for a virtual culinary class with Chef Beto and learn how to make a winter squash caldo (soup). As one of the three crops included in the Las Tres Hermanas crops known as good crops to grow together, Squash is a very common feature of the Mexican-American diet. Various squash varieties provide Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Potassium and Manganese to one's diet, among other vitamins and minerals. It is also known to promote good blood pressure, blood sugar regulation and bone strength. It can be found in such dishes as Calabacita con Pollo, Empanadas, as well as Caldos or soups. Beto will show the community how to make a soup from squash typically harvested in the Fall season.

In partnership with the Seguin Public Library, Dr. Tafolla will begin her Captivating Literary Day with a hybrid presentation (online and in person) at the Seguin Public Library. The library will be hosting Dr. Carmen Tafolla for a reading of her latest publications, La Ultima Mariposa at 1:30PM Friday, January 21, 2022. La Ultima Mariposa - The Last Butterfly is a children’s book aimed to teach environmental awareness, and lessons about love and friendship. She will hold a discussion with participating students and conduct a poetry/metaphor writing exercise about the story.

On the evening of Friday, January 21, 2022 6:30PM Teatro will host a unique and special evening with 2015 Texas State Poet Laureate, Dr. Carmen Tafolla at Texas Lutheran University Student Activity Center at Jackson Park at 1000 W. Court St. Seguin, TX 78155. She will perform several pieces that are geared to the young and the young at heart. We invite the community at large to both of these FREE events.

Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin along with the National Endowment for the Arts is excited to bring Mariachi Girl to the City of Seguin and the surrounding communities! We invite you and your family to come and enjoy a beautifully written story filled with vibrant traditional mariachi music. Mariachi Girl musical play is about a ten-year-old Carmencita who dreams of being a female mariachi singer thus shattering the tradition of male mariachis only. Mariachi Girl is an uplifting bilingual family musical.
